Topic: #9- What inner and external conflicts arise in the transition from childhood to adulthood?

What does it mean to grow up? How does growing up affect who we are as a person? As we grow up, we learn to take on adult responsibilities. We begin making life changing decisions. But we also face inner and external conflicts during this transition. Every day, we come across situations where we have to do what we think is right. We have to be confident and stand up for ourselves. Our thoughts and feelings change as we get older. As a child we rely on others to pick up the pieces and do everything for us, but as we become an adult we learn that the responsibility is all ours.

I knew it wasn’t a good idea
I thought it would make me cool
One try wouldn’t hurt they said
Crowding around me
They threw horrible words around
‘Punk’
‘Coward’
‘Mama’s boy’
‘Nerd’
They shoved me
They threw me on the floor
They kicked me
I wasn’t gonna sit there and be pushed around
I took a deep breath and gave it a shot
What’s the worse that could’ve happened?
Besides, it gave me lots of attention
Just not the attention I wished for
