Thesis- Dating practices or relationships today in America are different from the time of Romeo and Juliet because relationships back then required the individuals and their families to be more committed to the relationship.
Body Paragraph 1:
- In relationships in America long ago, two people most likely dated because they really loved each other. Now a days, couples might date for other reasons as well. Ex: publicity, popularity, etc.
- "I must hear from thee everyday in the hour. For a minute their are many days." Romeo and Juliet would sneak around to see each other. They always sent messages to each other and thought of each other non-stop. This shows that Romeo and Juliet loved each other no matter what and couldn't stand to be seperated.
Body Paragraph 2:
- In America today, at least on of the individuals in the couple or marriage are known to bring home an income to support the family or keep the relationship going.
- Back then in the time of Romeo and Juliet, women didn't go to school or have jobs. This shows that the role that each person in a relationship has now, differs from long ago.
Body Paragraph 3:
- In dating practices today, children have more freedom in their relationships. Long ago, parents would arrange marriages for their children. Now, even when a parent tries to make decisions for their kids, the children go ahead and still do things on their own without their parents approval. (with the exception of certain religions)
- In Romeo and Juliet, Juliet's parent's wanted her to marry Paris, not Romeo. But unhappy with their decision, Juliet argued to be with Romeo for the rest of her life.
